Environmental Scientist/Research Analyst - Lakewood

|Description:||Toeroek Associates, Inc. (Toeroek) is a growing business headquartered in Lakewood, Colorado that provides specialized support services to the Federal Government, including the U.S. Environmental Protection Agencys (EPA) efforts to enforce its environmental laws including CERCLA (Superfund) RCRA, SWDA, CAA, EPCRA, TSCA and FIFRA.|
Toeroek is currently seeking a junior level Environmental Scientist/Research Analyst in our Lakewood, CO office. The analyst will work as part of a team to assist EPA with researching and compiling the evidence to identify potentially responsible parties (PRPs) for contaminated hazardous waste sites. Superior writing and analytical skills are essential to this position.
|Duties:|| Conduct technical review of laboratory data results for purposes of extracting and summarizing relevant data in investigation reports|
Interpret and analyze data results to identify potential sources of contamination
Create and manage databases
Provide GIS mapping support
Assist in identifying sources of information about PRP operations, including federal, state and local agencies, public libraries, private archives, and map and aerial photography archives
Conduct online and field document research to obtain data pertinent to PRP historical operational and waste disposal practices, as well as environmental regulatory compliance
Draft technical reports that summarize PRP operations, chemical usage, disposal practices, and soil and groundwater sampling data
May participate in environmental sampling and field activities
Organize and index site documents; data entry
Available for travel and field work
Bachelors degree in earth sciences, environmental science, chemistry, geology or related science or technical field. Knowledge of Access databases and database programming.
Two to four years of relevant experience.
Knowledge or experience in environmental information collection, analysis, interpretation and report preparation
Excellent written and verbal skills
Detailed, critical writing and analysis skills
Ability to function as a member of a team
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Ability to handle multiple tasks
Ability to adapt quickly and smoothly to changing project requirements
Familiarity with RCRA and CERCLA environmental laws a plus
Experience or familiarity with site characterization, including field sampling of groundwater and soil, as well as planning documents, a plus
To perform this job successfully, an individual should be proficient in Word, Access, Excel and WordPerfect. Knowledge of other database formats and database programming a plus.
Must have current HAZWOPER 40-hour certification and pass a fitness for duty examination to include the ability to work in a respirator.
